Forme 01 / Security for firms that sell things and keep books

Set it wrong once and it prints wrong every day after.

A print shop does not correct a mistake on the thousandth sheet. It corrects it in the forme, before the press turns once. Security in a small firm behaves the same way: the machines, the mailboxes, the records and the copies are set right one time, locked up, and then they hold. We do the setting, we do the locking, and we watch the run.

Plate 02 / What gets taken

The loss that shuts a small firm is a quiet one.

No lorry reverses up to the shutters at midnight. Money leaves through a payment that looked entirely ordinary, or records leave on a laptop that was never under management. Four openings, and we find them in almost every firm that sells something and keeps books.

PLATE 01

The invoice that was not yours

A supplier of six years standing sends new bank details. The mail arrives from their genuine address, because somebody else has been quietly reading that mailbox for a fortnight. The payment goes out on a Friday afternoon.

PLATE 02

The machine behind the counter

It drives the till, the card terminal and the accounts package, and it was last restarted somewhere around a bank holiday. Everybody uses one login, because during a rush nothing else is quick enough.

PLATE 03

The login three people share

A single password for the booking system, on a note under the keyboard, still known to two people who left last year. None of that is unusual at your size. All of it is a way in.

PLATE 04

The drive nobody has restored from

A disk plugged into the server since 2023, blinking away contentedly. It holds the only copy, it lives in the same room as the thing it protects, and not one file has ever been taken back off it.

Plate 03 / The formes

Six formes. One subscription. One desk answering the telephone.

Take the parts you want and leave the rest where they are. Each line carries a unit of its own and a monthly rate of its own, and the lot arrives together on a single invoice. Every forme sets out what its lines do, what they cost, and precisely where they run out.

FORME 03SentinelOne and Fluency

Detection and answer

An agent on every machine reading what programs are up to, evidence held together across the whole firm, and somebody at a desk who acts on it while you are asleep.

  • Desktops, laptops, servers and container nodes, all worked from one desk.
  • Evidence out of separate sources gets kept together, which is why a warning arrives explained.
  • Three levels: tell you, look wider first, or shut the machine off outright.

What may run

Nothing opens on the machines that handle money unless it has been put on a list. That closes the door on software you have never seen before and never will.

  • The list gets built by watching what your own staff run, over a fortnight.
  • Routine vendor updates are followed, so a Monday release does not stop trade.
  • An approved program is fenced in: it does its job, and very little else.

Mail at the mailbox

Protection that lives in the tenant, not out at the perimeter, Microsoft side or Google side, alongside the practice attempts that make staff harder to fool.

  • Mailbox-level API protection. Nothing at all sits out in front of the mail.
  • It learns who writes to whom, and spots a reply address that quietly changed.
  • A bad message gets retrieved from each inbox that took it, after the fact.

FORME 06N-able N-sight, Addigy, Zimperium

Machines and handsets

The housekeeping. Updates that genuinely get applied, a name filter that travels in the laptop bag, Apple hardware under management, and handsets nobody is merely trusting.

  • Updates, health warnings, scripts and remote hands, all from one agent.
  • Name filtering carried by that same agent, with no extra hardware anywhere.
  • Apple hardware is handled by Addigy; handsets are watched by Zimperium.

Where the data sits

Locate the risky files before writing a single rule about them, since no rule ever reaches a folder that has not been found.

  • Reads disks and shares hunting for regulated and commercially awkward material.
  • Gives every machine a risk figure, which is how a clean up gets its order.
  • Encrypts what matters, and keeps an eye on the ways it could leave.

FORME 08N-able Cove and Dropsuite

Copies and recovery

Copies held somewhere the original cannot reach them, and restores rehearsed on a schedule instead of merely hoped about.

  • Whole machines, single files, boxes in a cupboard, guests on a hypervisor.
  • N-able Cove covers the Microsoft side. Dropsuite covers Google, the directory, and the books.
  • One line exists purely to test the restores and write down what happened.

Plate 04 / Platforms

Nothing here was invented on these premises.

It is fashionable to imply that a managed service was written by the people selling it. This one was not. Under SecureBiz IT sits a short list of commercial platforms. They were picked for surviving contact with real estates. Fortify 24x7 licenses them. People who know them well watch them the whole day. A named tool and a telephone number will beat a sealed box on any day you actually need help.

SentinelOne

Follows what a program actually does on the machine, and can act without waiting for any console to agree.

Fluency

Holds evidence from every connected source together long enough for a real question to be answered.

ThreatLocker

Keeps a list of the software allowed to open, and refuses everything else until a person says otherwise.

Ironscales

Sits inside the tenant as mailbox-level API protection. No gateway involved, and nobody here is going to call it one.

N-able N-sight

One agent doing the housekeeping: updates, health, scripts, remote hands and a name filter.

Addigy

Runs the Apple hardware properly, from first enrolment through to whatever the next release changes.

Zimperium

Watches a handset from inside the handset, the one place with an unobstructed view of it.

Actifile

Reads the disks, says where the risky files are, encrypts them, and watches the ways out.

N-able Cove

Takes copies of whole machines and of a Microsoft tenant, and keeps them out of reach of the thing they protect.

Dropsuite

Copies a Google tenant, an identity directory, and a ledger that would take weeks to reconstruct by hand.

Ten platforms, one desk, one invoice
Plate 05 / Make ready

What the opening fortnight actually looks like.

None of this needs a committee. Two weeks is typical between the first telephone call and quiet running. Tuning eats the time; installing never does.

01

Counting up

Half an hour on the telephone. Machine count. Which of them handle payments. Who holds which keys. What it would genuinely cost you to lose each one. What you get at the end is a list of lines plus one monthly number. No deck.

02

Card on file

You pick your lines here and check out. Card details go direct to Stripe, never travelling through us. Charges run monthly and up front. What a statement shows afterwards is the imprint FORTIFY 24X7.

03

Agents out

Enrolment links and installers appear on the account page, normally inside the same working day. Every platform arrives by its own route, and not one of them expects you sat in a console.

04

Make ready

The allow list settles down, the filter picks up its exceptions, and copy schedules get cut to the size of your real data. Whether the rest of the year is quiet gets decided during this week.

05

On the press

Warnings arrive at our desk and not in your inbox. The account page carries your lines, your installers and each proof you put up. Behind it sits a person.

Plate 06 / Honest scope

What a subscription cannot reach.

Most security pages promise total protection somewhere near the top. This one declines to, because no such product has ever been cast. Marked up below, out in the margin the way a proof comes back from the reader, is the honest edge of these lines.

  • stetWe are not an insurer. No line on this page pays out on a loss. A policy is a separate purchase from somebody licensed to write one, and insurers increasingly ask whether controls of this kind are running before they will even quote.
  • delPermission does not stop somebody making a copy. Anyone with the right to open a file also has the ability to keep one. That is answered by how you handle leavers, how often somebody reviews access, and what your contracts say. No agent covers it.
  • trNothing here inspects your own website or app. Selling online means the code behind that shop belongs to another trade, with its own specialists. We would rather say it plainly than let you walk away assuming otherwise.
  • wfCover follows enrolment. Enrolled hardware and connected accounts are what a line reaches. Nothing else. A private laptop that never enrolls stays outside the whole case, however careful its owner happens to be.
  • spWe do not do your compliance paperwork. Controls help a great deal during an audit and are not the same thing as passing one. Where a scheme wants evidence we will produce whatever our platforms hold, and there we stop.
Plate 07 / The type case

Twenty four lines. Each has a unit, and each has a monthly rate.

Billing supplies every figure at page load, so the number in a compartment is the number reaching your card. Pick what you want, adjust the counts in the stick, and lock the forme up once the list reads correctly. The whole of it locks up into one monthly subscription.

The rates failed to arrive. Reloading the page normally fixes that. Should the case still be empty afterwards, write to support@securebizit.com and you will get a quote put together by hand.
